Kerala Start-up Mission is a state government agency that helps create the infrastructure and ecosystem required to support high-end technology-based startup businesses. Sullamussalam TBI is their recent partner in becoming an institutional mechanism for providing various services to budding entrepreneurs and innovators. The TBI will aid technology based start-up business ideas with all the necessary resources they require, from infrastructure technology, finance, research assistance to industry mentorship and business consultation. This Incubator is open to all: students, faculty, alumni,Areekode natives, youth of Malappuram, etc. ensuring that many innovative ideas are born and soared from Sullamussalam. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) started in 2015 at Sullamussalam Science College. It acts as a space for students to create, inspire & become self-reliant individuals through the world of entrepreneurship and technological innovations. Today Sullamussalam takes a step forward in opening up that space to the rest of the world around them. With new funding from the Kerala Start-up Mission, Sullamussalam is now the first arts & science college in Kerala to become a Technology Business Incubator.
Sullamussalam TBI aims to ensure that backward, rural minority classes of the Malabar region become an active part of a global economy and leaders in developing innovative, sustainable & successful technology. There are very few TBIs in the Malabar region, which also hosts one of the most densely populated districts in the state, Malappuram. The human resources in this region are often overlooked due to lack of ample higher education institutions as well as other socio- cultural factors. Sullamussalam TBI aims to ensure that the local youth get ample opportunities to make use of its resources.
Sullamussalam Science College is the
harbinger of empowering a community
with education. The landscape of Areekode
today has been greatly influenced by
Sullamussalam who take upon themselves
the responsibility of uplifting the backward,
rural and minority community of Malabar
in general and of Malappuram district in
particular. Without compromising their
ethical ideologies, Sullamussalam provides a
serene learning environment in a campus that
emphasises the overall development of their
students. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Development Centre (IEDC) is part of a
principle of ensuring that an educational
institution is not about merely creating a
workforce, rather ensuring students
them selves are a force to reckon with.
With becoming a Technology Business
Incubator Sullamussalam science collegeis
elevated further into a centre for excel-
lence. Taking education to the next level, TBI
enables Sullamussalam to provide and
increase job opportunities, transform
Areekode & the Malabar region into a
globally recognised technically advanced
region.
Sullamussalam TBI will provide its incubatees a space that is large enough for their ideas to take off into successful businesses. Along with providing an exclusive 2000 sqft Incubation centre initially that is 24x7 operational complete with all technical support in its infrastructural layout, the companies also get access to the facilities available in the Sullamussalam campus. This makes the TBI incubatees an integral part of the Sullamussalam family, who will benefit from the ethically sound value systems in place in the campus.
Apart from simply providing a space
Sullamussalam TBI aims to equip the young
entrepreneurial minds with the right
guidance they need to transform their ideas
into successful businesses. This includes
hands-on management, mentorships,
business plan strategy, exposure to market
trends, organisational management,
leadership & communication training etc.
Apart from providing individual mentorship
& training, Sullamussalam TBI also provides
its incubatees with orientation programs,
common workshops & events that can help
them in building ideas, like the innovation
challenge, design thinking, idea hunt trips,
project expos etc. The TBI will also have
periodic tech-talks & business meet-ups
to allow better networking & gaining
mentorship from industry experts.
Since its inception in 2015, the IEDC has encouraged students to take up technical entrepreneurial pursuits and enter a world of innovation & creativity. IEDC has conducted over 80 workshops & events and has gained various accolades over the years because of the innovative spirit it provided its students with. With TBI, Sullamussalam aims to expand the horizon for its students, teachers, alumni and its locality with the empowering spirit of entrepreneurship & innovation.
